Status and a Budget

You Are Not Alone: for women who are victims of violence


NGO “Foundation Harmonized Society” provides therapeutic group counseling for women who have been involved in an abusive relationship. The program is designed to help women understand the impact a partner's violent behavior has on their mental, emotional and physical health and its effects on other family members, especially children.

The program is open to women who are presently, or who have been, involved in a past abusive relationship. Women learn how to deal with the effects of violence and focus on being in an abuse-free relationship.

 

 

Status: ongoing/active/ needs funds for 2015

 

Budget: approx. $6 000.00 USA per a year (that covers group and one-on-one consolations for about 430 victims)

Responsible Choices for men/women who are in abusive intimate relationship

The Responsible Choices group therapy program for men/women is designed to help perpetrators understand and change their aggressive and abusive behavior and outbursts.

Participants utilize group exercises, discussions and daily-life assignments to learn how to express concerns in non-abusive ways that respect the rights and feelings of others.

Budget: approx. $3 200.00 USA per a year (that covers group and one-on-one consolations for about 125 victims)

Child Well-Being program

The Child Well-Being program is a therapeutic and support program specifically designed to facilitate the coping and healing process of children (ages three to sixteen) who have been exposed to domestic violence and abuse.

Using age-appropriate play and art therapy techniques, in a child-friendly therapeutic environment, the program strives to increase a child’s self-esteem and confidence, enhance communication and problem solving skills, while improving conflict resolution skills and teaching coping skills, while we assist in breaking the cycle of domestic violence.

Budget: approx. $3 500.00 USA (that covers group and one-on-one consolations, art therapy for a group of 25 kids). At the present time we have 2 groups ready to start.

6– 9 months shelter support for the victims of violence

 

A shelter is created for people who have been abused in some way, that are seeking refuge from their abuser. 

 

Status: The government shelter has been closed due to lack of funding

Future Without Violence Program

This program includes a series of training activities for parents: “Raising Cooperative and Respectful Children”, “Building your child’s self-esteem”, “Parenting without Anger” as well as “one-on-one parenting coaching”. This program is conducted at schools for parents.

 

Status: on hold/ needs funds for 2014 - 2015

 

Budget: approx. $2 500.00 USA per a year (that covers 4 training sessions and one one-one one consultation).   The program could cover up to 250 participants.

 

Social Adaptation and Life Skills program for children leaving the State Care System

The program is designed to implement the successful integration of orphans into Ukrainian society and decrease their chances of involvement in criminal or anti-social behavior after they leave the orphanage.

Assistance to victims of domestic violence using art-therapy techniques

The program is designed to enhance the provision of psychological support to victims of domestic violence via usage of art-therapy techniques.

Budget: approx. $3 800.00 USA (that covers group and one-on-one consolations, art therapy for a group of 15 victims). At the present time we have 4 groups ready to start.

Promoting gender equality through media in Kyiv city and Kyiv oblast of Ukraine

 

The project idea could be achieved through the following activities:

  • To conduct trainings for journalists and NGO that work to promote gender equality;
  • Using social media and other new tools to promote gender equality in mass media sphere locally in Kyiv city and Kyiv oblast;
  • To teach women and girls how to use social media and send social message to the society;

Promoting gender equality in schools

 

Ensure equal pay and fair representation of men and women at all levels across the school (male teaching assistants, female head teachers and other senior managers).

  • Develop initiatives that promote young women to follow post-compulsory education and career trajectories which will facilitate higher earnings in the future.
  • Identify who is becoming dis-engaged from education and is likely to do less well than hoped – and develop support strategies to tackle this.
  • Challenge stereotypical, either/or understandings of what it means to be male and female – across the whole school community (parents/carers, staff, students).
  • Have clear and consistently followed procedures for identifying / reporting sexual bullying and violence against women and girls incidents.

Assistance to the victims of Ukrainian protests on Maidan and their families, soldiers who are taking part in the anti-terrorist operation in the Donbas, members of their families, as well as the families of dead soldiers.

 

Trauma support, containment and counselling are offered by our team of professional psychologists/counsellors to people traumatized by war. Individual, group and family counselling are available in a safe, secure environment to facilitate full recovery for all who need this type of services.

 

NGO works with the frontline workers such as volunteers, doctors, Maidan leaders and coordinators, social workers, media specialists, community leaders, law enforcement officers and emergency workers, etc.

Budget: approx. $8 000.00 USA per a year (that covers group and one-on-one consolations for about 400 victims, refugees and members of their families)

“Multiplication of anti-trafficking National Referral Mechanism (NRM) in Ukraine”

 

The Project will provide support to the Ukrainian authorities and civil society in the multiplication and enhancement of the NRM for victims of trafficking in human beings in Kyiv region (including Kyiv city). Moreover, the Project aims to facilitate the development of the secondary legislative framework that will support the Law of Ukraine “On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings” and serve as an operational basis for providing assistance to trafficking victims; and to strengthen the capacity of state authorities and civil society to provide adequate assistance to trafficking victims on a regional level.

 

Furthermore, the project design and implementation will be done in line with the human rights based approach in order to ensure that the specific needs of victims of trafficking in human beings are met, regardless of their registered place of residence in Ukraine, sex, age, legal status, forms of exploitation to which they had been subjected, etc.

“Community program for elders in Desnyanskiy district of Kyiv city, Ukraine”

 

The global project objectives are:

  • Raise awareness about existing the problem of domestic violence among senior people as being a society’s problem, as well as violation of human rights and that each institution and an individual must confront it;
  • Improve quality of life of older people in Ukraine;
  • Create favorable, transparent, non-violent environment, free from stigma and discrimination for provision of services for senior citizens;
  • To upgrade the level of public trust in the institutions that provide assistance in domestic violence cases, in particular, shelters, social service and crisis centers.

Social business creation

The project is drafted to create more stable financial future for our organizations and reduce our reliance on international donor funding. The Project also aims to increase economic opportunities for persons at risk and former victims (beneficiaries) - both men and women - by providing them with an opportunity to gain new or improve existing professional skills.
